Apostolos Thymiopoulos is considered a star winemaker from those in the know and Vrana Petra is his top wine, 100% Xinomavro from old vineyards that are farmed organically and biodynamically. The light Pinot Noir-esque colour disguises what a subtly powerful and complex wine this is, packed with red cherries and berries, earth, smoke, savoury herbs, pepper and spice, with bright acidity and tannins with a little bit of grip suggesting long ageing potential. I know the 2019 is possibly too early to drink but I loved it and I will certainly be laying a few bottles down in our cellar. Whilst powerful, it has a fine silky quality to it and moderate alcohol of 13.5%. The length of finish is outstanding and I’d put this in the exceptional category.

LIMITED QUANTITY AVAILABLE
