Belargus is a relatively new producer that is redefining the historic vineyards of the Loire Valley with stunning, terroir focused Chenin Blancs.  Their Quarts, from an area better known for amazing sweet wines, is an exceptional offering with beautiful aromas of apples, apricots, honey, quince, wet stone and smoke.  These notes follow through on the palate, a little bit reductive to begin with then the pure sweet fruit coming through along with hints of marmalade, spice, honey and minerals. Quite Burgundian in style.  There is some sweetness on the opulent palate but the wine finishes dry with vibrant acidity and a superb length of flavour, a real wow wine.  Elegant, supple, complex, unctuous, delicious, one runs out of superlatives.  This vintage is drinking wonderfully but will develop for some years yet.  Outstanding Grand Cru quality.
