Langham is one of the most exciting English producers at the moment, with Jancis Robinson describing their distinctive style as like Selosse. Head winemaker Tommy Grimshaw is making a name for himself as one of the country's brightest young talents, winning awards left, right and centre, so we thought we ought to take a look. And, surprise, surprise, this is bloody good! Produced in a low intervention way, this is a Chardonnay dominated blend named after the coral rich limestone rock strata 300m below the surface, meaning minerality. It's a precise, linear wine with notes of citrus, apple blossom and saltiness. Richly textured and layered with lemon curd, apple, roasted almonds, saline and that trademark minerality, it is zippy, balanced and long. Very complex with different nuances as it opens up, it's another great addition to our list.
