As with the White Bones Chardonnay, this comes from a few select rows of vines within Block 1 of the Adrianna vineyard. Underneath the vines, the soil is covered with white gravel, thus the name, and this is always slightly the richer of the two premium Catena Chardonnays whilst still maintaining the hallmark minerality and crisp acidity. Packed with citrus, peach, warm spice, wet stones, flint, sea shells and salinity, the balance and length of the wine are both sensational. It makes you stop in your tracks, such is the quality, and whilst I know it's pricey, it really is worth every penny. What's life for if not treating yourself to a little luxury every now and again? Exceptional.
