From third generation members of the legendary Fetzer family, this is from Mendocino in the northern part of California's wine region (where the large redwoods grow). I didn't guess it as Californian as it's a fresher, more minerally style of Chardonnay. There's a lot of white peach, poached pear, apple, citrus, wet stones, subtle tropical fruits and a touch of creaminess. Quite subtle, nuanced and complex, with bright acidity, great energy and a decent length of finish, as with many Chardonnays, it gets better and better as it opens and warms a touch. An excellent wine and great addition to our portfolio.
