This wine is part of a new project involving wine importer Ben Henshaw, wine writer Jamie Goode and Zalto glass importer Daniel Primack, working alongside some of their favourite winemakers. Their focus is on terroir driven wines from various regions - they call the project the salt of the earth range - and this means factors other than rich fruit coming into play - for example, minerality, acidity, salinity and texture. Partnering such experts with brilliant winemaker like Dermot & Ana Sugrue sounds like a match made in heaven and the result is this sensational multi vintage, solera aged Chardonnay. Made in the same style as Sugrue's Bonkers Chardonnay, this is a blend of the 2022 vintage (aged for 18 months in new and old French oak barrels) plus the 2023 vintage (six months in large oak barrels), blending select barrels of the vintages and then ageing for another 6 months to create this textural, lemony, minerally, creamy, salty, zingy beauty.
