This wine is part of an exciting new collection conceived by Master Sommeliers Gareth Ferreira (CORE by Clare Smyth) and Ronan Sayburn (Le Manoir, 67 Pall Mall), with the objective of showcasing South Africa's most spectacular terroirs and most distinguished winemakers. 

The excellent Aurelia is made by Gordon Newton Johnson, with fruit sourced from Newton Johnson, Restless River and Crystallum (three of our favourite SA producers).  This is quite a restrained Chardonnay at first glance, very finely boned with citrus, peach and pineapple and a subtle toasty, creamy note coming through.  Very minerally with zippy acidity and subtle use of oak, it's wonderfully balanced, long and quite delicious.  But, having tasted the other wines in the portfolio, we weren't at all surprised.  Top notch.
