Charlie Melton is a Barossa legend who is both a thoroughly top bloke and an excellent winemaker. His Nine Popes is a tribute to the great wines of Chateaneuf-du-Pape, produced from old bush vines from some of the best sites in the region. Packed with beautiful fresh black and red fruit, the wine is full but wonderfully balanced so handles the depth of fruit and alcohol well. Packed with brambly berries, spice, liquorice, toast and flowers, it's got a wonderful velvety mouthfeel, fine tannins, good acidity and great length. It's been considered one of Australia's best reds for years and rightly so.
