Failla are a small producer based in the Sonoma Coast making world class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from some of the region's best sites. They have 11 acres of cool climate sites, sometimes buying parcels in but generally focusing on quality over quantity. We tasted a couple of their wines recently and this Pinot Noir, from the Anderson Valley, is a cracker. It has plenty of elegant black and red fruit but this is balanced by a nice savouriness along with minerals and a smoky finish. It's very elegant with fine grained tannins, juicy acidity and great length and I think it will develop well in bottle. Top stuff.
