We love the Picpoul de Pinet from La Croix Gratiot so we were pleased to find that they also produce an excellent Syrah to list alongside the white. This is a really lovely, quaffable red with bright red cherry and berry fruit, a hint of pepper, spice and earth. The tannins are slightly grippy, in a good way, and there is really juicy acidity so it's fresh and balanced with good length on the finish. It's cracking value for money and this ticks a lot of boxes - you could chill it down in the summer or, equally, enjoy in the winter with red meats or stews. It's not overly complex but it's not trying to be. It's just a really lovely, really good value bottle of wine.
