Lelie van Saron is a new label recently started by dynamic young winemaker, Natasha Williams.  Natasha's approach is simple - to make wine with pure expression of the terroir and the grape variety, using natural methods.  Her first wine is this really elegant Chardonnay from a cool climate single vineyard in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde, sustainably farmed.  The nose shows bright notes of lemon and lime, with some hints of apple and a touch of toasty oak.  On the palate, the wine is fresh and minerally, balanced with ripe notes of lemon, melon, peach and tropical fruits.  The oak is well judged and adds subtle toast and a bit of spice, and the length of finish is impressive.  A really lovely wine and a winemaker we'll be following with interest.
