The man behind Nocturne is multi award winning winemaker, Julian Langworthy. What began as a side hustle in 2010 has now developed into one of Australia's most exciting projects.  Julian creates small quantities of high quality Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon from exceptional sites, highlighting the distinct nuances of Margaret River's sub regions.  All the wines are made with minimal intervention or "careful neglection" (his words) and it's little surprise that these are gaining a following - they are stunners. 

His Wilson Chardonnay - from Wallcliffe - is quite pale in colour and exhibits a smoky, reductive nose with lemon, lime, nectarine and blossom notes.  The palate is really precise, clean and minerally with bright acidity, citrus, stone fruit, salinity and a hint of buttery popcorn on the finish.  Pure, fresh and harmonious with a finish that lasts longer than an Oliver Stone film, and a refreshing 13% abv, it's ready to go now but will develop in bottle for some time yet, adding weight and more complexity.  Certainly a name to follow and worth putting some in your cellar now whilst the price is still relatively modest for the quality.  It's what I'll be doing!
