Place of Changing Winds is a fabulous project started in 2012 by Australian wine importer Robert Walters.  He densely planted vineyards in the foothills on Mt Macedon in order to produce low yields of intensely flavoured grapes and, as the years have passed, he has developed organic techniques specifically suited to his vineyards.  These are wines aimed at Burgundy lovers and this is a very Burgundian Pinot Noir - in fact, tasted blind, you wouldn't guess New World.  Often compared to top Volnay, it's silky and luxurious with lovely purity of fruit, savoury character and complexity.  If I'm being honest, I think this needs more time to fully settle and develop and that's why I'll be putting a few in my cellar to see.  Undoubtedly top quality and I'm looking forward to drinking again.
