Racines is an exciting new collaboration between Etienne de Montille (of Burgundy's Domaine de Montille) and his Californian born winemaker, Brian Sieve.  It's a combination of world class vineyards, world class winemaking and world class people which makes this one of California's most exciting ventures.  Their wines all come from Santa Barbara County, from highly coveted sites in the Santa Rita Hills where they get good warmth during the day but coolness at night to balance this.  Being only 10km from the Pacific adds freshness.

This is their "entry level" Chardonnay and it is excellent.  Pure, precise, vibrant, minerally and complex, it ticks all the right boxes.  The wine shows bright citrus and tropical fruit with hints of cream and toast, yet is very elegant with crisp acidity, minerality and a hint of saline freshness.  It's long, harmonious and balanced, truly superb, showcasing what an exciting project this is.
