We don't stock loads of Chilean wines, but this one did stand out for me. It's a true mountain wine from the Elqui Valley where the vineyards are about 2000m above sea level so this tastes more like a cool climate, minerally wine rather than a sun drenched blockbuster. Vibrant and expressive, there's plenty of fresh red and black fruits on the nose and palate along with pepper, minerality, spice and floral notes. Very fine tannins and good acidity, no oak as aged in concrete eggs for 12 months. Silky and smooth and refreshingly different from everything else I've had from Chile.
