Given that we're constantly asked what our favourite wines are, we've started putting together our Ultimate Wine List - which is basically a list of the best wines from every region across the world. We're keeping the list to one wine from each producer and sometimes it may not even be the producer's top wine that makes the list but we'll explain our reasons for each wine as we go along. And, please note, it's not only wines that we stock - it's an ever evolving list of wines that deserve their place.

No. 9 - Porseleinberg Syrah (Swartland, South Africa) - consistently scoring 99-100 points in Tim Atkin MW's South Africa report, this is world class Syrah made in a Northern Rhone style. Silky and textured with red & black fruits, spice and savoury notes. Available here.
No. 8 - Casa Ferreirinha Quinta de Leda (Douro, Portugal) - described by Matthew Jukes as "the finest value fifty quid red on earth", this is a stunning wine. Velvety, packed with brambly fruit, tobacco, spice and minerals, it drinks well on release (decant first) but ages for years. Available here.
No. 7 - Francoise Bedel Dis, Vin Secret (Champagne, France) - biodynamic fizz of the highest order, predominantly Pinot Meunier from a top grower, wonderfully fresh and balanced with underlying depth and richness. Classy.
No. 6 - Chateau La Mission Haut Brion (Bordeaux, France) - enjoyed on NYE 2025, classic top class claret (we drunk the 2006 and it was in a sweet spot). Powerful yet balanced with great finesse from a very fine producer.
No. 5 - Taittinger Comtes de Champagne (Champagne, France) - enjoyed on New Year's Eve 2025, we started with this, that we haven't drunk for a long time. The 2011 was singing with great depth of flavour, rich yet fresh and utterly sumptuous.
No. 4 - Chiara Condello Le Lucciole (Emilia Romagna, Italy) - from a young winemaker who is quickly becoming a cult name for producing small quantities of exceptional organic wine. This is her top Sangiovese, silky and elegant with pure red fruit, spice and minerals. Approximately 4000 bottles produced each vintage and worth seeking out. Available here.
